(08:53) SANTA CRUZ – A Santa Cruz radio station is considering selling its license after an unsuccessful emergency fundraising campaign. In recent months, KUSP has been increasing fundraising efforts to compensate for over $750,000 in debt and unpaid bills. The station ran a “Mayday Campaign” with the goal of raising a minimum of $300,000 by last Saturday in order to stay on the air past April. Donors only contributed $114,000. During a meeting Wednesday night, KUSP leaders voted to reconsider selling the station’s license. In the meantime, the station will be laying off staff and operating at a bare minimum. (S.G.)
