Organizers of the maverick’s big-wave surf contest have been granted a permit for this season’s event. The 1-day event permit was given by the san mateo county harbor commission on Wednesday. The event is set to be held at the famous break near half-moon bay any day between the beginning of this December through the end of next march. Unlike past years, further restrictions will be placed on spectators, after several people were injured last year by the large waves.
