(12:50) SANTA CRUZ- Media outlets on both coasts are announcing the official cancellation of the Mavericks big-wave surf competition. This year’s cancellation is not due to lack of good surf but rather to apparent bad management. Several law suits have been filed, prompting bankruptcy filing by Cartel Management, as well as the Titans of Mavericks LLC, both run by Capitola entrepreneur Griffin Guess. 2017 was to be the first year to feature women at the competition.
