A proposed ballot measure would add a half percent increase to Marina’s existing sales tax. Measure N, the ordinance to increase the rate a transaction tax from one to one and a half percent is estimated would generate almost 5 million dollars annually. Unprepared food items and prescription drugs are exempt from sales tax. If passed, Measure N would expire March 31, 2034. A simple majority of votes are needed for this measure to pass.
