A decision, that is expected to be made next week about the Stockade on the Former Fort Ord, could impact the ability of the Marina Equestrian Center to remain open. That’s because the 2 are adjacent to each other. If the Marina City Council votes (next Tuesday (August 18th) to tear the building down, the tenants at the Equestrian Center would have 60 days to move their animals, because the dust and noise could be deleterious to the health of the animals. If Marina city officials don’t comply with National Park Service directives for the land for ‘free to the public’ activities there, the land cold revert back to National Park land.
Along with creating a financial burden for horse owners, the closure of the Equestrian Center could mean the end of the Star Riders Program, which offers lessons to Veterans and Special Needs Children.
The Marina City Council on-line meetings is scheduled to begin next Tuesday (August 18th, 2020) at 6 p.m.
