(22:10) CENTRAL COAST – Although it can run into early fall, the next couple months are the height of the local Artichoke Season. Approximately 80 percent of the world’s edible thistles are grown within 35 miles of Santa Cruz……and about 99 percent of North American Artichokes. The majority are grown from Castroville to Davenport because the artichoke plant thrives in areas that have fog-shrouded mornings, moderate daytime temperatures, and cooler nights.
