(08:27) MONTEREY – Monterey County health and wildlife officials have launched efforts to remove a contaminant that has been found in the vicinity of McAbee Beach. The petroleum-like substance was discovered in the area in mid-February, prompting the closure of the Monterey beach. Tuesday marks the beginning of the removal phase of the contaminated sediment. Operations will likely continue throughout the week. (S.G.)
