(06:36) LAKE TAHOE – An avalanche warning was issued along the Sierra crest Monday morning. The National Weather Service issued the advisory following a weekend of heavy snowfall. Around 20 inches of snow fell on the mountains around Lake Tahoe and up to a foot of snow gathered at lake level. The Sierra Avalanche Center has observed snow instability at Donner Summit, Mount Rose, Pole Creek and Carson Pass, which could be a precursor to avalanche activity, both natural and human-triggered. Conditions are expected to improve by Tuesday evening. (S.G.)
