March 11, 2016: Monterey County Schools Integrate New Program Addressing Youth Violence

(07:00) MONTEREY COUNTY – Schools across Monterey County are implementing a new program in an effort to combat violence on and off campus. Over fifty schools are rolling out Positive Behavior Interventions and Support, also known as PBIS, which focuses on reducing bullying and fighting. Since integrating the program, teachers have noted a downward trend in the rate of suspensions and expulsions. The $2.7 million program is being funded through state and federal grants. (S.G.)
