A Nevada man was arrested in Soquel Tuesday morning after Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies connected him to a stolen vehicle. Deputies were searching for a stolen Mitsubishi out of Nevada seen during a shoplifting investigation on Tuesday. The vehicle was pursued from Aptos into Capitola Village where the two people in the car fled and escaped. Later in the day, deputies stopped 20-year-old Nathan Whitton in Soquel Village. After questioning him, Whitton admitted he was the passenger in the Mitsubishi and deputies founded a loaded .38-caliber revolver. Whitton was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and possession of an unregistered, loaded handgun.
