SIERRA LA MAR CASE - ARREST 05/22/12 00:27 S.S.

AN  ARREST  HAS  BEEN  MADE  IN  THE  CASE  OF  MISSING  MORGAN  HILL  TEENAGER  SIERRA  LAMAR.   21  YEAR-OLD  ANTOLIN  GARCIA-TORRES  HAS  BEEN  BOOKED  INTO  SANTA  CLARA  COUNTY  JAIL  ON  SUSPICION  OF  KIDNAPPING  AND  MURDER.     THE  SANTA  CLARA  COUNTY  SHERIFF’S  OFFICE  REPORTEDLY PLANS  TO  HOLD  A  NEWS  CONFERENCE  LATER  THIS  MORNING,  IN  WHICH  THEY  EXPECT TO RELEASE  ADDITIONAL  DETAILS  IN  ABOUT  THE  ARREST.

LAMAR  WAS  LAST  SEEN  ON  THE  MORNING  OF  MARCH  16TH….AS  SHE  LEFT  HER  HOME,  HEADED  TOWARDS  ANN SOBRATO  HIGH  SCHOOL.  HER  PURSE  AND  CELL  PHONE  WERE  FOUND  NEARBY  SOON  AFTER  HER  DISAPPEARANCE.

 

Wanted con-artist arrested 05/21/12 7:35p.m. TDH

A wanted man suspected of conning more than 2-million dollars from people over the last 5-years has been arrested in mexico.   39-year-old Daniel chartraw was out on bail when he fled to mexico.  He had been booked at monterey county jail for scamming 3-carmel residents out of about 140-thousand dollars, when he escaped the country.  The f-b-i and carmel police detectives tracked chartraw to cabo san lucas, where he was arrested.   he was extradited to the u.s., and is expected to enter a plea in a monterey county courtroom on wedesday.

 

 

Evacuation, Report of chemical spill 05/21/12 7:30p.m. TDH

A food processing plant in salinas was evacuated monday morning, after concerns about a possible chlorine spill.  salinas firefighters responded to the new-star fresh foods distribution and processing plant on work street after receiving a call from someone claiming to be a sick employee.  About 200 employees were evacuated, however no chemical spill was located, and company officials could not locate any sick employees.  salinas firefighters reported that the chlorine present was well within safe limits, and the odor could have been leftover from a weekend cleaning crew.

 

 

Spca extends clinic hours 05/21/12 7:30p.m. TDH

The spca for monterey county has extended the hours at the agency’s spay and neuter clinic.  The clinic has been open Monday through Thursday; it will now be open 7-days a week, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.  the clinic on highway-68 is not a full-service veterinarian hospital, but vets there perform spay and neuter services as well as microchipping and vaccinations.  The clinic is able to stay open longer following the hiring of a 2nd, full time veterinarian.   More information is available online at s p c a m c dot org.

 

 

Seaside shooting 05/21/12 7:25p.m. TDH

Police in seaside are investigating a shooting that was reported on Sunday night.  The shots were reportedly fired on the 18-hundred block of saint Helena street.   witnesses told police that a man shot at a group of people, before getting into a vehicle and fleeing the scene.  A parked car was struck by at least 1-bullet, however nobody was injured.
