An Aptos man placed 30th in his age group in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. The event took place in Port Elizabeth South Africa. Phil Furniss came in with a time of 5 hours, 25 minutes and 27 seconds….after biking 56 miles, running for 13.1 miles, and swimming for 1.2 miles. Furniss placed 30th (among 94 qualifiers in the 60-64 age group.
Furniss qualified for the event after winning his age group at Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz.
