Area growers are concerned that President Obama’s decision to block 5 million people from deportation may have a negative impact on growers’ ability to hire temporary workers to gather the fruits and vegetables grown here on the Central Coast. That’s because those people would then be able to go get year-round jobs in other fields of endeavor. Once the executive action goes into effect in 2015, the parents of legal U.S. residents will be protected from deportation.
