A King City police sergeant reached a plea deal with Monterey County prosecutors yesterday and pleaded no contest to false imprisonment. 45-year-old Mark Baker allegedly sought out and threatened a man he believed stole his truck in August of last year. Prosecutors have dropped a charge of making criminal threats in exchange for Baker’s plea. He faces a sentence of one year in jail when he returns to court March 18th. Baker is one of six King City police officers who were arrested in February following allegations of an illegal towing scheme.
