June 3, 2016: PG&E Ordered to Pay Additional Fine in Carmel House Explosion

(07:52) CARMEL – PG&E has been ordered to pay an additional fine for a gas explosion in Carmel. The blast in March 2014 destroyed an unoccupied residence. This week, the California Public Utilities Commission announced that the company has been fined over $24 million for failing to keep accurate records of its natural gas pipeline system. The PUC has already imposed a nearly $11 million penalty for the company’s role in the explosion. The fine will go into effect in a month unless PG&E files an appeal. (S.G.)
