June 28, 2016: Governor Brown Signs California Budget

(09:29) SACRAMENTO – Governor Jerry Brown signed the state budget for the 2016-17 fiscal year on Monday. The $122.5 billion general fund spending plan focuses on increasing assistance to low-income families and retired state workers, raising funds for universities, expanding day care programs, and constructing jails. The budget also set aside an additional $3 billion for the state’s rainy day fund. Another $1.75 billion has been reserved to cushion against a revenue drop. (S.G)
