The preliminary hearing in a 34 year old murder case started in a Salinas courtroom yesterday (Thursday). The District Attorney’s office began calling the first of up to eight witnesses to determine if there is enough evidence to try convicted killer 60 year old Alfred Powell for the murder of Sandra McGee. McGee was last seen alive with Powell the day she disappeared. Her remains were found 30 years later on a property were Powell had once resided.
