(09:50) Monterey – The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office recovered 288 counterfeit twenty dollar bills. Deputies were notified by a citizen that a backpack was hidden in the bushes off a trail near Toro Park. Inside the backpack deputies recovered the $5,760 worth of counterfeit money. Authorities are working with the U.S. Secret Service to assist Monterey County Sheriffs with figuring out who made the counterfeit bills. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact authorities.
