(15:38) SALINAS-Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man following a machete attack on Thursday. Police say that 26 year old Alejo Negrette was attempting to rob another man in North Monterey County. The victim resisted and was attacked with a machete. Deputies apprehended Negrette nearby and he was booked into the Monterey County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, false imprisonment, aggravated mayhem and attempted robbery. The victim was flown to a trauma center , where surgeons are attempting to save one of his severed hands,
