(12:00)- SALINAS- A fatal head-on collision closed Highway 183 near Salinas on Friday. CHP officials say at around 5:30 p.m. the driver of a southbound vehicle attempted a left hand turn near McFadden Road and crashed into an oncoming SUV. A passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The three surviving victims received minor to moderate injuries. The roadway was reopened after two hours. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the accident.
