January 12, 2016: Rescued Sea Otter Pup Ok

(18:16) MONTEREY BAY – The 4 week-old sea otter pup, who got separated from her mother in rough surf last week, is reportedly doing well at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Because the aquarium does not have any available surrogate mothers, Otter 719 will be transported to another aquarium where she will live long-term. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is currently the only facility that is allowed to release sea otter pups back into the wild (because it’s surrogate mothers teach the young otters the necessary life skills to live in the wild).
