(17:00) SANTA CRUZ – A gas leak occurred in Santa Cruz this morning, when a construction company worker ruptured a half-inch plastic gas line just before 9 a.m. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident on the 100 block of Effey Street, and the line was capped off less than 30 minutes later. To avoid these situations, people are encouraged to call 8-1-1 before digging (so that water and gas lines can be marked).
