(08:50) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – Santa Cruz County residents interested in running for an office in the June Presidential Primary Election can collect signatures to cover their filing fee. All candidates are required to pay a filing fee, based on a small percentage of their office’s annual salary. Instead of paying the fee, individuals can obtain a Signature In-Lieu Petition. Each signature on the petition will carry a specific value that will cover part of the filing fee. The petitions can be obtained from the county’s Clerk and Elections Department on Ocean Street. The Presidential Primary Election will be held on June 7. (S.G.)
