(17:23) SCAM – Area residents are being warned about a Microsoft Computer Scam in which some victims have lost thousands of dollars. Reportedly a caller claims the victim’s computer has a virus, and then asks for remote access to fix it. At that point the scammer infects the computer, “fixes it” and requests payment. Victims are encouraged to call their county of residency’s Consumer Affairs Unit, or their District Attorney’s office.
