Monologue
Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the metabolic symdrome formerly known as pre-diabetes. Asserting that this condition is linked to other more serious disease states such as weight gain, type II diabetes and heart disease. Contending this is not a problem of excess but rather one of nutritional deficiencies.
Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two news stories regarding omega 3 fatty acids. The first concerns a study that found people who ate fish high in omega 3 fatty acids at least once a week or more were 60% less likely to have advanced macular degeneration. The second story concerns a study that found omega 3 fatty acids added to margarine did not get added benefits in heart attack prevention. Doc contends there are problems with the study. One of which is that in order to work properly omega 3's and omega 6's have to be in the proper ratio. Second the study participants were putting the margarine on bread at meals. This means that anyone in the study who has celiac disease will have difficulty absorbing the fats.

Monologue
Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing medical mistakes. Outlining the various statistics regarding these mistakes that afflict over 15 million Americans each and every year. Contending that no other industry could cause this much mayhem and get away with it like the medical industry.
Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a real case scenario of a medical mistake. A 46 year old man was involved in an automobile accident and taken to a hospital via ambulance. He was diagnosed and treated for blunt torso trauma but had no acute injuries. However he was kept over night for observation. The next morning was awakened by a nurse who was prepping him for surgery to remove a potentially cancerous mass from his chest. He then looked at his ID bracelet and found someone else's name on it. The other name was that of a woman 13 years younger. Fearing for his safety he and his wife attempted to leave the hospital only to be detained and beaten by security guards. He is now suing the hospital for false imprisonment, assault and battery and infliction of emotional distress.
