Text Message Sparks Domestic Abuse 10/8/12 11.45 AF

A Salinas man was arrested last night after hitting his girlfriend over a text message.   24-year-old Jesus Medles was driving back from a family outing with his 31-year-old girlfriend, when he asked to borrow her cell phone.      Meldes reportedly saw a text message from the ex-boyfriend of the victim, and the two began to argue.   During the fight, Medles hit the woman in the face and threatened to throw her from the car.      When they arrived home, the victim called Salinas Police, who responded to the 600 block of Columbia Avenue shortly before 6pm.      Medles was arrested without incident on charges of domestic battery and making criminal threats.
