Delays on Highway 17 continue this week and the following week.
These delays are due to the ongoing brush removal project, dubbed “Fire Safe 17”.
The project requires a single lane closure on northbound highway 17 between the hours of 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday as weather permits.
Delays can range widely, and have been reported as ranging between 20 minutes up to over an hour at times.
Motorists traveling “over the hill” are advised to start before the project begins or an hour early compared to their usual travel time, ensuring timely arrival to their final destination.
