Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two woman in connection with the theft of two horses. Late Friday night patrol units responded to a report of stolen horses in the Freedom area. The caller said she was awoken by noise coming from a white jeep on her property, after telling the driver to leave she discovered two horses missing. Deputies stopped the jeep several hours later while investigators located the missing horses in a makeshift coral behind a Freedom residence. The occupants of the jeep, Juanita Stanley and her passenger Michaela Helmer were both arrested for the theft of the horses.
