The Santa Cruz City Council decided against lifting a overnight parking ban on Delaware Avenue Tuesday evening. An overflow crowd packed the council chambers to protest the idea of allowing people who live in their cars to park legally on the West Side Santa Cruz street.
Councilmembers also decided to wait before closing the make-shift homeless camp near the gateway shopping center that is currently home to an estimated 150 people.
The camp had been scheduled to close March 15.
