Work is slated to begin today with turning San Benito Street into one-way traffic flow for motorists.
The plan is to turn parking spaces into parklets that can accommodate customers who are looking to dine outdoors and was approved last week by Hollister City Council.
Funding from the CARES Act is helping subsidize this project, with participating businesses eligible to receive grants to reduce the burden of added costs with construction and permitting.
The city also plans to build their own parklet for the purpose of community promotions and could potentially include additional infrastructure for bicyclists such as parking and bike lanes.
This parklet project will result in Southbound-Only traffic on portions of San Benito Street and is expected to complete by November 3rd.
