Cal-Trans now has a plan to expedite the re-opening Highway 1 at Mud Creek Slide. It calls for building the new road over the debris left by the may 20th slide, that deposited more than 5 million cubic yards of material on the well-known coastal highway. Berms, embankments, netting, and culverts are expected to be used to stabilize the new roadbed through the mud creek slide area. The plan has been sent off to local, state, and federal resource agencies.
