The ground has been broken on the new Salinas Police Service Headquarters. The current Police Department was built back in 1958, and along with not having enough space for certain things, the current facility has plumbing an electrical issues. 2 buildings will be constructed at the new location on the corner of East Alisal And Murphy Streets (between Front And Work Streets). 1 will be used for storing forensic evidence, and a Forensic Lab; while the other will contain administrative offices and a Community Room (something the department does not currently have room for). The facilities are expected to be completed by the early part of 2020.
