The chief of the greenfield police department has been placed on paid administrative leave. City officials released a statement, saying that they would not provide additional comment, other than to report the action. Chief joe grebmeier has served in the post since 2003, and was honored with an award from the agriculture community last month. It is unknown if the move is related to the attempt to merge the police departments of greenfield and soledad. Staff sergeant fred perez has been named as acting police chief.
