A 64-year-old Gilroy woman has succumbed to the injuries she suffered in a car accident Christmas Day. Socorro Alfaro was fatally injured when she failed to yield at the intersection of Roop Road and New Avenue, and her car struck an SUV. Although the driver of the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure, that person sustained no serious injuries. Alfaro, who was a 1968 graduate of Gilroy High School, succumbed to her injuries New Year’s Eve.
