It’s not a quick fix for the current unsanctioned homeless encampment at the gateway plaza shopping center in Santa Cruz… but it could be a long term solution.
City officials have applied to purchase two parcels at 125 coral street, which is currently home to the “sea berg metal fabricators.”
The possible future site of a homeless navigation center is about 28-thousand square feet and next to the homeless services center at 115 Coral street.
City manager Martin Bernal says the property should be available in 12-months and is valued at 1-point-4 million dollars.
