A Monterey dive shop has started a food drive to help out the folks who work at the Coast Guard office down the street. The Coast Guard is the only branch of the military not getting paid during the partial government shutdown. That means that for the past 3 weeks, while the Coast Guard office in Monterey has been fully operational, the employees have not been receiving paychecks. People are welcome to drop off non-perishable food for the members of the coast guard at the “Out To Sea” dive shop located at 32 Cannery Row.….for the remainder of the government shut down.
