(07:56) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office has been alerted about a phone scam targeting residents in Live Oak and Soquel. Officials say a caller has been contacting individuals and telling them they were involved in illegal activity and need to pay a fine. The caller threatens victims with jail time if they do not pay the fine. The scammers then leave a number with area code 202 to call back. Anyone who receives a call of this nature is to contact the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. (S.G.)
