February 23, 2016: Monterey Bay Marine Biologist Violates Probation

(07:42) SAN JOSE – A Monterey Bay marine biologist faces jail time after being caught getting too close to a sea otter. Nancy Black was placed on probation 12 years ago after violating the Marine Mammal Protection Act. Black reportedly attached a piece of whale blubber to the side of her boat to attract a nearby pod of orcas. In April 2015, she was caught on video violating her probation by getting within 50 yards of a sea otter and her pup. Charges were filed against Black earlier last month. During a probation revocation hearing in San Jose on Monday, she admitted to violating the conditions of her probation. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for Monday.
