(13:08)The cause of the fire that heavily damaged the vacant Dick Bruhn store in Salinas is being investigated. The blaze on the 300 block of Main Street was called in around 2:45 p-m Saturday. At one point there were concerns that the blaze would spread to the adjacent Ariel Theater, but firefighters were able to prevent that from happening. Although there was no smoke or fire damage to the theater itself, there is water damage in the basement. Main Street is currently closed to through traffic, between East Alisal and Monterey Streets, and it’s expected to stay that way until at least Tuesday.
