Elkhorn Slough Receives Grant – 05/06/15 17:47 S.S.

The Elkhorn Slough has received a 3-Million-dollar grant to help the Foundation’s Blue Carbon – Salt Marsh Restoration project. The project includes a study of how well the marsh protects the environment from harmful carbon dioxide. The Elkhorn Slough includes some of the rarest wetlands, and members of the foundation are working to restore 66-acres of salt marsh there. The grant money comes from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The work is expected to begin in the coming fiscal year.
