A unanimous vote, approved this week by Santa Cruz City Council members, is expected to start the environmental review process for a new Pogonip trail. Council members plan to review a design plan and E-I-R by November 15th. The new plan would look into adding a 2nd multi-use trail, to the 640 acre site, as a way to address a public safety concern about heroin camps in the park. The state-required study is expected to cost the city $25,000.
