The Matriarch of the family that runs the Monte Foundation has passed away. Doris Sylvia Monte, and her husband Rudolph Daniel Monte, opened and ran 2 grocery stores during their 67 years of married life. One was in San Jose, while the other is Deluxe Foods Of Aptos. Along with being the head checker there, and working in the office, Doris volunteered as a “pink lady” with the Dominican Hospital Auxiliary in Santa Cruz. Doris is survived by her 4 children and their spouses, as well as her 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Doris Sylvia Monte was 92 years-old.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m, this Thursday; and a Vigil Ceremony for her is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., at Resurrection Catholic Church In Aptos. This year’s Monte Foundation Fireworks in Capitola on October 7th are being dedicated to her life.
