Donation Saves Aptos Mental Health Program 10-03-18 15:05 DC

A large anonymous donation has saved a community-based mental health program. Encompass Community Services had already announced its Second Story Peer Respite program would be ending next month. Today, the Aptos-based charity announced it had received the largest donation in its history – enough money to keep the 8-year-old project going.

CEO Monica Martinez said the live-in program, generally a week long, gives people facing mental health issues the ability to receive peer counseling and support before problems escalate and result in hospitalization or worse. The amount of the donation and its source was not announced.
