On Thursday afternoon, Monterey Police Department Officers responded to reports of a dog attack in the area of Cielo Vista Drive. A woman was walking her dogs when two Cane Corso dogs belonging to a local resident attacked her and her pets.
When the woman tried to intervene the attacking dogs, she was bitten on the hand. One of her dogs succumbed to the bite injuries, the other dog remains hospitalized. The woman and a male bystander who tried intervening were both injured.
As for the owner of the Cane Corso’s, Monterey Resident Leslie Flores was cited for multiple pet related violations and could lose her dogs pending a court ruling deeming them vicious.
Flores was previously cited for similar violations in December of 2018.
