With the primary elections now history, Santa Cruz County officials remind residents that most political signs are not suitable for recycling.
Don’t place political signs into the blue bins, they say because most of the signs are made from several different materials that cannot be recycled.
The Recycling and Solid Waste Division of the county’s Public Works Department gave KION Television these suggestions for reusing the signs:
- Keep them to use in future elections if possible
- Save and re-purpose them for yard sales, lemonade stands or birthday parties
- Break them down and use them as smaller signs
Yard signs that cannot be reused must be put in the trash.
