A plan to house the homeless at Depot Park on Washington street in Santa Cruz drew a protest by Depot Park neighbors yesterday.
Residents there say the city council’s plan to close the unsanctioned homeless camp behind the Gateway Plaza shopping center downtown… and create a safe storage and sleeping space in their neighborhood is a bad one.
City council member Drew Glover also opposes the site at depot park. Instead, Glover proposes three alternative sites:
A vacant lot on Dubois (do-bos) street
The old polo house at Pogonip
And the friendship garden at Harvey West park
