December 6, 2015: Deputies Train For Mass Shootings

(18:40) MONTEREY- The recent mass shootings in Southern California and abroad have Central Coast law enforcement reviewing training tactics. Agencies including the Monterey county Sheriff’s office which has been training for mass shooting scenarios for the past few weeks are now looking at the use of military equipment. Departments around the Monterey Bay have been receiving grants and equipment from the Department of Defense’s 1033 program, which provides law enforcement free surplus equipment. The ACLU and certain communities such as Santa Cruz are opposed to the equipment and the militarization of local police forces.
