(08:05) SALINAS – Salinas officials have approved an ordinance that will enable the city to clear out homeless encampments. This week, the city council voted in favor of a policy that would allow crews to remove tents and mattresses from the streets. The decision has been made in an effort to improve public safety. Homeless individuals will be able to reclaim the removed property and can still set up tents on public sidewalks between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. The city plans to post notices at encampments up to 3 days before a clean-up takes place.
