December 22, 2016: Retired S.C. Sheriffs Deputy killed in Wreck

(10:35) – A retired Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Deputy was killed in a car wreck last week.   The incident took place last week in the city of Colton when 66 year-old Robert Costere was on his way to pick up his daughter and grandson from the airport.  Police reported that for reasons unknown Costere’s car was parked under the Rancho Avenue overpass.  It was reported that Costere was standing outside his car close to traffic when he was struck by a tractor-trailer that was being driven by 38 year-old Christopher Horsey.   The case is still is under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.  A GoFundMe fundraiser called “The Bob Costere Memorial Fund” was created on Tuesday.   The fundraiser brought in over three-thousand dollars from 31 donors in just 18 hours.
