(09:59) SANTA CRUZ – The city of Santa Cruz has been awarded nearly $1 million to improve the street lighting and sidewalks on Bay Street. The money was contributed in two grants from the Highway Safety Improvement Program. The first grant totals over $600,000 and will be put towards the Bay Street Sidewalk Completion Project. The second will be devoted to making the left turn from Bay Street to King Street safer and is just over $300,000. Project design is expected to start in mid-2016. (C.G.)
